A native of Hayti, the historically black community in Durham, North Carolina, and the son of a lawyer and schoolteacher, I was taught that education was key to unlocking our full potential, and standing up for justice was a civic duty. In the Urban Energy Justice Lab, I currently investigate how temperature and air quality are related to a home’s energy consumption to alleviate energy burdens and associated health risks.
