Current Position: Data & Research Aide at the Colorado Department of Healthcare Policy & Financing

Liyu was funded for Summer 2019 – Summer 2020 as an undergraduate research assistant. She worked with Fellow Colleen Reid in the project “Understanding the roles of objective versus perception of green space exposure on stress and mental health”. She has now graduated with a BA in Geography.

Liyu Berhanu is a CU Boulder alumna with her B.A. in Human Geography as well as certificates surrounding public health. Her interests lie in public and community health, specifically working to help communities combat health inequities exacerbated by social and environmental structures. She plans to pursue her MPH soon. With the support of JPB funds, she worked on Dr. Reid’s project evaluating green space exposure & stress/mental health as a research assistant during her senior year.
