PLEASE NOTE: We are no longer accepting Fellowship applications for the 2014-2018 cohort of Fellows. Future Fellowship opportunities will be announced in early 2018.

The process for selection as a JPB Environmental Health (EH) Fellow is a multi-stage process that includes the following steps:

#1 — The Nomination Period

Potential JPB Environmental Health (EH) Fellows must be nominated first before they can be invited as an applicant to the Program. A Nomination letter from a Dean, Department Chair or Senior Faculty member along with a CV will be requested using an online nomination form accessed through the JPB EH Fellowship website. Before considering a Nomination, please review the eligibility criteria on this website. Nomination letters must include the following:

Examples of recent research and areas of interest

A description of the candidate’s character and interest in working collaboratively

Commitment from the home institution that release time from teaching and other activities will be approved if the candidate is selected as a JPB EH Fellow.

A description of additional in kind support available to the candidate should be discussed. Examples of such support could be scholarships for doctoral students and/or post docs, equipment, software or sample analysis

The Nomination Period for the current Fellowship period is closed. Details for the next Call for Nominations will be posted on this website in early 2016. Specific details will be posted on this website then when we will post details regarding the Nomination letter on this website.  Nomination letters for the JPB EH Fellowship Program must come from School Dean’s or Department Chairs at the nominee’s Academic Institution.

#2 —The Application Period

After review of the nomination materials, selected nominees will be invited to apply to the JPB EH Fellows program. The nominees selected to apply will be notified via email usually within 30 days of the nomination deadline and provided with access to the online application system.  Applicants will have 30 days to complete their application and submit requested materials that can include a writing sample, other support and updated CV.

#3 —The Reference Period

Applicants will be asked to provide contact information for FOUR references within two weeks of receipt of the invitation to apply.  References will be contacted either by phone or email so it is important to make sure your references are aware they will be hearing from the Directors of the JPB EH Fellowship Program regarding your application.

#4 — The Interview Period

Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview day with the Directors, members of the Advisory Committee and various faculty members here at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, MA. Travel expenses for the in person interviews will be covered by the JPB EH Fellowship Program.

#5 —The Selection Process
